Vintage Persian Khatam Marquetry inlaid mosaic wooden with geometric pattern & hand-painted with Iranian art known as 'Gol o Morgh' in Farsi which means 'Flower & Bird' Pattern
Khātam is an ancient Persian technique of inlaying where art forms are made by decorating the surface of wooden articles with delicate pieces of wood, bone and metal precisely-cut intricate geometric patterns. In each cubic centimetre of inlaid work there are more than 250 pieces of metal, bone and different kinds of wood are laid side by side, glued together in stages, smoothed, oiled and polished.
Our magnificent Khatam clock also went further and patterned with Persian art known as 'Gol o Morgh' in Farsi which means 'Flower & Bird' on top. The middle of the clock is made out of fine art copper enamel plate.
